At least 13 people, seven of them al-shabaab militants, have been killed after an attack on a security facility in Somalia, Somali secyrity minister Abdirisak Omar Mohamed said.
Suspected militants from the Islamist group al-Shabaab carried out the attack on the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in the capital Mogadishu, police said .
The gunmen attempted to force their way into the complex after two suicide car bombs detonated at the gates of the facility, and confirmed four attackers we among the dead.
A local goverment spokesman Abdifitah Omar Halane, said security forces foiled the attack and killed the gunmen. Nearly 20 people most of the civilians were also wounded in the attacks on Sunday .
It shows a deterioration situation here as Somalia is gearing up for a general election next month and preventing al-shabaab attacks appears not to be a major priority for the Somali government leaders.
